Charlie Yates
BA (Hons) Fine Art: Painting & Printmaking // Glasgow School of Art ’19
“I am a Scottish Artist based in Glasgow and Edinburgh. I mainly work in oil paint, on a variety of materials. My work ranges from portraits and traditional interiors to contemporary artworks and installations. My interior works focus on traditional Dutch based scenes, creating dark environments with my use of colour. My portraits capture a sense of the subjects character and personality, bringing out some of their past. While my contemporary works explore materials and abstraction via varying processes and capturing experiences or memories and translating them into conceptual paintings. I am always expanding my horizons and I am open to new opportunities outside of my current artistic area”.
